Class Description

There is something mysterious about poetry that attracts us to it. For many of us, poems make it into the journals or diaries we keep. This class is about taking away the mystery of poetry and bringing it out of our personal journals and into the lives of others. Learn how to capture moments and images in this introductory poetry workshop. Everyone has at least one poem within them and together we can make that poem shine. In this six week course we will look at poetry examples, learn about the elements that make up contemporary free verse poetry, and apply them to our own works.

Instructor: Marco Dominguez

Marco A. Domínguez is originally from California and has attended East Los Angeles Community College, Northern Michigan University, and Texas Tech University. His poetry has appeared in various literary magazines including Boxcar Poetry Review, Hunger Mountain, Indiana Review, and Water-Stone Review.
