EXTRA VIRGIN PETRUS OIL:
Promote conscious and responsible use of Petroleum Vs. denying the dependence.
As an artist, the energetic theme is cause and motive of the investigation I have been developing in the last years.
My last work, the series entitle “Extra Virgin Petrus Oil”, the works elaborated with petroleum and by-products from petroleum, as well as vegetable fiber, specifically from de sugar cane plant, allegoric to the incursions of the Ethanol in the energetic market.
These seems to be the days of the Bio combustibles, like the ETBE (Ethyl Tertio Butyl Ether) that is obtain from the Ethanol and the Isobutylen (a sub-product from the catalytic cracking from the refineries).
The interest of this new approach is the interaction between agriculture and mining.
The petroleum, in 150 years from the beginning of its commercialization has become part of our lives, part of the collective psyche.
And these facts are more evident as more developed is the society.
In my trajectory as an artist, there has always been an ecological concern that has taken me to study the origins, in matter (the use of natural fibers) and in the aspect of collective subconscious. Petroleum is “origin” as matter and “origin” in our subconscious of energetic and industrial development.
At the end, the idea is to give a new interpretation to the energetic theme that can be translated to a more universal plastic language, so, more contemporary.
Sublimate the merely matter until translate it to topic of reflection and psychosocial analysis.
