Erika Jane Mallette
"New American Gothic"
April 4 – March 26, 2014
Martin McDonald Gallery
The world of Erika Jane Mallette is as creative as abject, as "gothic" (the new tendency, not confused with the middle ages) as fantastic, satirical, surrealistic, and imaginative with references of American culture, Southern culture, and good old fashioned make believe. Erika is a self taught
artist who was born in the small farming town of Tulia in October of '82 and raised in Lubbock, Texas currently residing in Austin. In addition to showing at galleries across America over the past five years, she also does CD covers, t shirt designs, and other commissions, in short, dangworthy dame.
